- Why is PVC rigid film widely used in pharmaceutical blister packaging
In the field of pharmaceutical blister packaging, PVC rigid film occupy an important position due to the excellent heat sealing properties. Because of its easy molding and low price, it can provide sufficient support and protection for glass packaging such as ampoules, vials, syringes, etc., so it is widely used in pharmaceutical blister packaging.
In the production process of pharmaceutical blister packaging, pharmaceutical PVC rigid film is widely used in blister packaging of pharmaceuticals. When this kind of rigid film is used, it is softened by heating and then placed in the mold. It is filled with compressed air or vacuumed to form a blister or cavity. After molding and cooled, the medicine is placed in the blister, then combined with the PTP blister aluminum foil. It is heat-sealed with the PVC sheet under certain temperature, pressure and time conditions to form a blister package.
In order to ensure the quality and safety of pharmaceutical blister packaging, a series of tests need to be carried out on PVC rigid film, including overall sealing test, heat sealing strength test, impact resistance test, thermal shrinkage test and bursting strength test. These tests help evaluate the performance of PVC rigid film to ensure it can effectively protect pharmaceutical products from the external environment.
Although PVC rigid film is widely used in pharmaceutical blister packaging, the application of PVC sheets also faces some challenges due to its poor thermal stability, moisture-proof barrier properties and oxygen barrier properties. If it is not good enough, it may cause the drug to fail the stability test of the packaging material, and even cause medication risks. Pharmaceutical companies are also seeking new materials and technologies to address these challenges to ensure the safety and effectiveness of drugs. As a manufacturer of plastic sheet packaging materials, while improving the moisture-proof barrier properties of PVC sheet through formula adjustments, we are also developed new composite materials such as PVDC to enhance barrier properties, provide adequate protection for drugs, and meet the needs of pharmaceutical companies.
